Hi, I'm Matthew Laux, and this is my consulting practice, Miso Software. I modernize legacy systems and build the software that keeps your business running. What I do

• Legacy modernization & systems work. Maintaining software that still runs on DOS, Win32, Classic Mac OS, or other aging platforms. Migrating legacy codebases to modern architectures. Reading archaic file formats, working in languages most developers have never seen. If it's old and it matters, I can work with it.
• Mobile development. Native Android (Kotlin, Jetpack Compose) and iOS (Swift, SwiftUI) apps. New builds, rewrites of existing apps, performance optimization, and architecture reviews.

How I work

I start building in week one. I avoid months of planning - I scope the problem, ship working software quickly, and iterate from there. Most engagements are 1–3 months.

12 years building mobile apps and critical systems at Meta, Atlassian, and FullStory, shipping consumer apps to millions of users and building internal tools for large engineering organizations.
